[OOC] Expiation Application

Character Name: Shionne Vymer Imeris Daymore
Character Canon: Tales of Arise
Canon Point: After the group arrives on Lenegis.

Background: Shionne at the Tales of Wiki
Personality: ♕ Stubborn - While others might say that Shionne is headstrong, she’s actually rather stubborn about things. She spends a lot of time protecting herself and her heart by trying not to get close to others, constantly throwing the fact that she’s a Renan up around the Dahnan members of the group to keep them at arm’s length. She has a single-minded focus on overthrowing the five Renan Lords involved in the Crown Contest, and she can appear to be cruel when she ignores other people’s weaknesses if they impede what she needs to do.
However, once she gains friends, she refuses to tell the others why she’s so determined and nearly steals the only ship usable back to Lenegis to “save them” from what she thinks is ahead. It’s only Alphen hugging her that stops her from being so stubbornly noble and gets her to open up, despite the fact that at that point in time touching her hurts him as much as it does others.
♕ Lonely - Because of the curse that Shionne was born with, she was kept away from other children and was put into a lab from a young age to be experimented upon to figure out what the triggers were. As such, she didn’t learn real social skills while growing up and wasn’t an active member of Renan society on Lenegis. She was kept up to date through the tech the Renans used and she was educated about the things that every Renan should know.
When she escapes to Dahna, she’s actually committed treason for leaving Lenegis without any approval, but when she’s rescued by the Crimson Crows, you can see that she is prickly and distant from everyone. Going on in her travels with Iron Mask/Alphen and the others, you find out that she is a lonely person who covers it up with being angry and prickly. Some of that is because of the fact that she’s never known the touch of another person without hurting them and the rest is that she has no idea what she’s doing with other people in truth.
Of course, none of this is helped by her semi-prophetic dreams of the world being swallowed up in darkness that is related to her curse and the burden she carries from that aspect.
♕ Kind - Despite the fact that Shionne can appear to be prickly, once she’s given someone who actually attempts to befriend her, she starts to show other sides of herself. She can’t see others in pain. She wants to share the things that make her happy with other people, such as her love of fashion and food. She says things that people need to hear, but she does it because she wants them to be better. As she gets more comfortable around others, she learns ways to say the truth that isn’t so harsh, but she never stops being the person who will tell you what you need to hear and not what you want.
She and Alphen also have some rather adorable scenes “translating” what the Owl Queen and King say for the rest of the party. A lot of it is kind encouragement and compliments to the party and some lovey-dovey stuff that might end up being a bit of projection from the two humans.
♕ Smart & curious - Even though a lot of education is left to the imagination for Renans, at nineteen, Shionne is as well versed in Dahnan lore as Dohalim, the other Renan in the party. Since he’s from one of the families that can compete in the Crown Contest, he has a great deal of education both for Renan standards and about Dahna and the power structure. Shionne knows just as much as Dohalim, if not a bit more, since he was more interested in pursuing his more esoteric hobbies than she was allowed. And despite her background, there’s a sort of innocent desire to know things she doesn’t know well (like how to cook better and some of the history about the things they see around them).
Abilities: ⯌ Astral Artes - As a Renan, Shionne has the ability to cast Astral Artes, calling on all the different kinds except for Light, since that is only for Dahnan mages and the Lord of Light (previously Ganabelt of Cyslodia). List of Astral Artes
⯌ Maiden - As the descendent of the original Maiden, Naori Imeris, Shionne is able to tap into the Maiden's true purpose in the Spirit Channeling Ceremony, alongside the Sovereign, which means she has the ability to stabilize the Sovereign’s power and pull along the connection with the Dark Astral Energy that only Renans can use to combine all six elements (Light, Dark, Fire, Water, Earth and Wind), to ultimately join both Rena and Dahna into one world and stave off the immense hunger of the Great Spirit of Rena’s Will.
⯌ "Thorns" Curse - Because she's the last of the Imeris line, Shionne has inherited the curse of Dark Astral Energy that emerges as 'thorns' to attack anyone who touches her. It inflicts a great deal of pain on said person, overloading their nervous system and making them pass out. Except for Alphen while he’s wearing his suppression mask. (This is also the source of her prophetic dreams about the end of life on both Rena and Dahna, as far as she understands it.)
⯌ Gunmanship - Shionne specializes in using rifles that can sometimes have elemental magics attached to her base attacks as well. She also has a limited amount of specialized bullets that can be used to lob grenades into battle that add different effects attacks that she has to reload. These attacks are referred to as Sniper Blasts. She also has a Boost Strike that is beneficial for downing flying enemies by targeting their wings and doing extra damage to them.
